Internet Sales Increase 19% over Christmas 2006
With a Real Estate Collapse and a mild recession in full swing, online marketers feared sales on the web would also decrease. But with the internet growing like gangbusters, there was no chance that would happen.

The Internet is a mainstay and seemingly everyone has access to its broad and vast array of features and content. But amazingly, there are estimates that internet usage could DOUBLE in the next ten years. I mean think about your own personal use of the web. How many times have you wanted a number or address and didn't even hesitate to look it up online. The yellow pages were the only way to gather that info 15 or 20 years ago. Personally, I have found major accoutrements in my life using the web. MY HOUSE, being the biggest. But I have also shopped for Xmas and Birthday presents, as well as ordered food and Movies.

So, every year online retailers get jittery and worry about online sales drops around Xmas. No need. This will not happen for years to come. Especially if your product or service is global. Because if the economy is bad in one place , it is taking off in another. China and India are the new big dogs on the block and online retailers are scrambling to offer a presence in that area of the world.

Christmas retail sales will continue to rise every year for the foreseeable future. The ones that have to worry are middle of the road fledgling retail stores in neighborhoods and cities. Companies like Circuit City, Target, and shopping mall clothing stores feel the bite of reatil shoppers. People have found it is simply easier to type in your CC number and click a few times vs. finding a parking space and fighting traffic in the malls.
